The Independent on Sunday are reporting that Everton are interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, with long-term Toffees shot-stopper Tim Howard’s future at the club thrown into doubt.
A change of circumstances in Howard’s personal life means the 36-year-old could leave Goodison Park in the summer, and if he decides to do so, Heaton’s performances for the Clarets last season are thought to have impressed Everton manager Roberto Martinez enough to make a bid for the player.
Family has always been hugely important for Howard throughout his playing career. The American took a year out from international football last August to spend more time with his children and it is far from certain whether he will remain at Merseyside when the new campaign starts in August.
Although Burnley suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, Heaton was one of the Clarets’ star performers. The 29-year-old former Manchester United player has two years left to run on his contract at Turf Moor.
