Everton should consider making a surprise move for Watford striker Troy Deeney in the January transfer window.
The Toffees recruited a lot of impressive talent during the summer, but they failed to bolster Marco Silva’s options up front.
Cenk Tosun has been the go-to man at the moment, but he is struggling for consistency in front of goal.
With the January window being the next opportunity to buy more players, the Toffees should consider bringing in a new striker.
One man who should be on the list is Watford captain Deeney, who is well known to Silva having worked together at Vicarage Road.
Having brought in players from Barcelona and the like in the summer, Deeney’s name does not carry as much glamour.
However, the 30-year-old has plenty of experience and knows how to score a goal having netted 114 in 340 appearances for Watford.
In the Premier League alone, Deeney has scored 30 times and created 15 assists.
Everton possess plenty of speed and skill in wide areas through Richarlison and Theo Walcott, but having the Watford man up front could help with the end product.
The striker’s contract does not expire until 2021, so it’s likely that the Hornets will make it difficult for anyone to secure a deal, but Everton should keep him in their sights.
