Everton have displayed some commendable ambition in recent years, shelling out significant fees on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison and Yerry Mina as they battle against the heavyweights of England to return to the Champions League, but they can still improve in some areas.

What's the word, then?

Well, Marco Silva's side are starting to gel after a stuttering start to the campaign. Andre Gomes' classy and composed performances alongside Idrissa Gueye's grittier ones have left Everton with a well balanced midfield. Ahead of them, Gylfi Sigurdsson is starting to pay back some of his huge fee with seven goals already this season, although he is one year off his thirties.

The Merseyside-based club have done well to transform what looked an ageing side, containing the likes of Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Tim Howard, into a more youthful one with Jordan Pickford and the aforementioned Richarlison the headline acts.

However, they definitely need to use the ambition they're showing to lure some more of Europe's classiest young performers to the club.

What youngsters can they beat the bigger clubs too?

One youngster who most would assume has been on the radar of the bigger clubs is Bundesliga starlet Kai Havertz. The 19-year-old Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder has seven goals and five assists already this season, including three goals and three assists in just three Europa League starts.

Given Sigurdsson's aforementioned age, it would be wise of the Toffees to start looking for his successor now, and the German is one of his country's rising stars - even a £50m opening bid wouldn't see the club make a loss on him in years to come if it were to be successful, he's that good.

They've shown that they aren't afraid to splash the cash on players who they think will be a wise investment, and seeing as no other top club is making concrete moves for the youngster, Everton could pull off a sensational steal.
