According to Calciomercato, Borussia Dortmund are prepared to sell Shinji Kagawa, and Everton should be looking to sign the former Manchester United attacker.

What's the word, then?

If there was a word to describe Kagawa's start to the 2018-19 campaign then it would probably be 'frustrating'. Dortmund have been excellent, but the 95-time Japan international has not really played a part in their success this term.

Indeed, Kagawa has only made two Bundesliga appearances, and five across all of the competitions, with the likes of Marco Reus, Jadon Sancho and Christian Pulisic all ahead of him in the pecking order at the German club.

According to Calciomercato, Dortmund are prepared to sell Kagawa either in January or at the end of the season for a figure in the region of £11.5m, which would represent a real bargain when considering the attacker's quality.

Kagawa will not turn 30 until March, and there is no question that he still has a fair few years left at the top level.

Everton are not exactly short of attacking midfielders, but simply cannot pass up the chance to bring Kagawa to Goodison Park.

Why should Everton move for Kagawa?

Kagawa has managed 60 goals and 55 assists in 216 appearances for Dortmund, which have come in two separate spells either side of a period with Man United.

It would be fair to say that the attacker struggled to show his best form in England, but a record of six goals and 10 assists in 57 appearances for the Red Devils shows that he did contribute, albeit without showing his true quality.

Kagawa might well feel that he has something to prove in the Premier League, and would enjoy linking up with in-form Richarlison, who has six league goals to his name this term.

Richarlison is already feeding off the likes of Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson, but Kagawa's ability to play in a number of different positions in the final third of the field would make him a very attractive proposition for the Merseyside giants.
