According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, reported via Calciomercato, Inter Milan have taken the decision to sell Gabriel Barbosa in the January transfer window.

What’s the word?

Barbosa, commonly known as Gabigol, joined the Serie A giants as a highly-rated young attacking prospect in 2016. However, the Brazilian has failed to kick on since his arrival at the San Siro and is currently on loan back at the club where his career began, Santos.

Inter appear to have now given up on the 22-year-old, and are ready to cash in on the forward who has demonstrated impressive form since his return to Santos, netting 25 times in 50 appearances for the Brazilian outfit.

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below...

Gabigol’s current prolific strike rate may not prove enough to save his San Siro career but it ought to attract the attention of other top European clubs. Everton, in particular, should take a risk on the four-cap Brazil striker.

Still the next Neymar?

In 2016, ESPN’s Simon Kuper reported that Gabigol was widely considered in Brazil to be the ‘next Neymar’. At the time this was not an outlandish claim as Barbosa is certainly a prodigiously talented attacker. Time is also still on his side to come good on his potential too.

Goodison Park would be the perfect stage for Gabigol to begin rebuilding his career upon. Marco Silva has already worked wonders with one young Brazilian in Richarlison, and if he could get Gabigol back to his best too then the Toffees would have a seriously scary partnership available to them in the form of the south Americans.

Gabigol has a Transfermarkt valuation of just £7.2 million, and whilst he would likely cost Everton more than that despite his unwanted outcast status at Inter, he could certainly be a low-risk January bargain for Everton to pursue.

What do you think, Toffees fans, would you like to see Gabigol on Merseyside?
