According to Turkish-Football.com, Everton are considering a move for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup at the end of the season.
Everton were not exactly shy in splashing the cash last summer, and it is understood that the Toffees will again spend big once again at the end of the season.
A number of players have been linked with a move to Goodison Park, including Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.
However, according to Turkish-Football.com, Everton are also lining up Besiktas midfielder Ozyakup should they fail to sign the England international.
The report claims that Everton have been scouting the 25-year-old in recent weeks, although the Merseyside outfit would face competition from a number of clubs should they make a move for a player who, like Wilshere, will be a free agent this summer.
Ozyakup spent four years with Arsenal between 2008 and 2012, but the Turk only made two first-team appearances for the Gunners before moving on to Besiktas.
The midfielder signed schoolboy forms with Arsenal in September 2008, and was a regular in their youth set-up before appearing in two League Cup matches during the 2011-12 campaign.
Ozyakup was actually on the bench when Arsenal lost 8-2 at Manchester United in the Premier League in August 2011, but he never made a league appearance for the Gunners.
The 30-time Turkey international has since developed into a key midfielder for Besiktas – making more than 200 appearances for the club in all competitions, and scoring 27 times in the process.
It seems strange that Besiktas have allowed the versatile midfielder to enter the final months of his contract, and at the age of 25, the deal is a bit of a no-brainer for Everton.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for their former player, but it seems that Everton are in a strong position as they bid to sign the international footballer, who is said to have a close relationship with now Toffees forward Cenk Tosun.
