Marco Silva has been stepping up his transfer plans as club scouts are sent to watch Lyon midfielder Tanguy N’Dombele, per reports in the Mirror.

What’s the word?

The Mirror are suggesting Everton scouts have been monitoring N’Dombele’s progress for Lyon, as the 21-year-old continues to star in France.

It is said the Toffees have been to four Lyon matches in recent months, and chief scout Martyn Glover has travelled to view the France international in person.

With Morgan Schneiderlin failing to impress the Portuguese coach since taking over at the helm, Silva aims to strengthen his side’s core and identified the Guingamp product as the perfect addition.

The former Southampton-ace, who flopped at Manchester United, has not featured in a matchday squad for the past five games and could be on his way out for his younger countryman, valued at £50million.

Could it happen?

N'Dombele only joined Lyon permanently in the summer, having spent last year on loan at the Europa League side.

The four-cap international was pivotal under Bruno Genesio in qualifying for this season’s Champions League, and showed himself to be a promising box-to-box midfielder.

Already this season, the 21-year-old has followed suit and has started 13 of Lyon’s 14 league games, the most of any player. In those, N’Dombele has registered four assists from the central midfield slot, while slotting in as a defensive addition on four occasions.

The Nike sponsored athlete, valued by TransferMarkt at £31.5million, has also recorded 30 tackles, 38 dribbles and 21 key passes in Ligue 1, while scoring twice in the Champions League.

Everton, however, would likely face a challenge from Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal should they make a move, with all said to be watching the French ace this season, too.
