Everton turn to 6ft. 3” defensive monolith after £10m transfer blow

Everton have turned to Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann following their failed move for Ashley Williams, according to reports from the Mirror.

Swansea knocked back the Toffees’ £10m offer for their skipper, thwarting Ronald Koeman’s plans to lure in the Welsh enforcer.

And reports claim that Everton are now looking elsewhere, with Dann a target.

The 6ft. 5” centre-back shone for the Eagles last term, with his commanding displays having prompted calls for him to be drafted into the England set-up.

Everton were interested in the Liverpool-born ace 12 months ago, but he chose to stay in south London.

A potential stumbling block could be Dann’s potential £15m price-tag – a hefty fee for a 29-year-old.

Everton have also been aligned with Sunderland’s Lamine Kone and may have to step up their pursuit of a new centre-back further over the coming weeks with John Stones on Manchester City’s radar.
