Everton have matched Chelsea’s €45m (£38m) offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and are willing to offer the defender a greater salary to relocate to Goodson Park, according to Tancredi Palmeri.
The 6ft. 5” Senegalese centre-back has emerged as a target for both clubs in recent weeks, while his agent has fuelled talk of a move for his client by claiming that he’s ready to “leave” the Naples side.
Chelsea had moved into pole position for the giant enforcer with a £38m bid, but it’s now understood that Everton have matched their proposal and are offering him a more lucrative contract to pick Merseyside over west London.
Palmeri, a well-known Italian football writer, took to Twitter to break the news:
“Everton have bid 45m€ for Napoli’s CB Koulibaly, offering him better personal terms than Chelsea’s.”

Everton’s bold move could be a reaction to John Stones’ seemingly imminent switch to Manchester City, which could bring in around £50m.
Koulibaly was a key member of Napoli’s first-team as they finished runners-up in Serie A last term, booking a spot in the Champions League in the process.
