Everton want former loan star to save season

Everton manager Roberto Martinez wants giant Monaco striker Lacina Traore to re-join the Toffees on loan to get their European aims back on track, according to reports from The Express.

The 6ft. 8” Ivorian striker spent the back end of last season on loan at Goodison Park from the Ligue 1 side, but made only one league outing – netting one goal – due to a niggling hamstring injury.

But he made a big impression on Martinez, who is desperate to turn his side’s ailing season around quickly as he eyes a late push for European qualification.

The Merseysiders sit in the bottom half of the table after a stuttering start to the campaign, with one win in their last seven games a worry for the Spaniard.

Everton narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season, but even a return to the Europa League for next term looks unlikely at the moment.

Monaco are open to a loan deal for the beanpole marksman, yet they will demand a fee in the region of £2m to allow to him to spend the rest of 2014/15 in the blue shirt.
