Richarlison has been excellent for Everton since his summer arrival from Watford, but the Toffees will find it impossible to keep the attacker on a long-term basis.

What's the word, then?

Everton paid an initial £35m to sign Richarlison from Watford during the summer transfer window, but that figure could eventually reach £50m.

It was a staggering amount of money for a player with just one season of Premier League football under his belt, but the South American showed at Watford last term that he is capable of becoming one of the best attackers in the Premier League.

Despite missing two Premier League games this season through suspension, Richarlison has four goals to his name, and impressed through the middle against Leicester City last time out.

The former Fluminense attacker received his first Brazil call-up in August, meanwhile, and has since scored twice in four appearances for his country.

Richarlison will not actually turn 22 until next May, and there is every reason to believe that he will continue to improve.

Can Everton keep him?

Richarlison has a contract with Everton until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, and the Toffees are therefore in a very strong position when it comes to his future.

There will be a time when the real big boys come calling, however, and the Merseyside giants will be powerless to prevent him from moving on.

Indeed, both Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to be in the market for new attackers, and Manchester United were actually linked with Richarlison ahead of his move to Everton.

Consistently excellent left-sided attackers are difficult to find at the top level, and if Richarlison can prove himself this season, a move to one of the powerhouses of world football might not be too far away.
