Everton worried they may lose vital first-team star amid Man United interest

Everton are worried that even new investment at the club may not be enough to keep Romelu Lukaku at Goodison Park this summer, according to reports from the Mirror.

The Belgium international is currently the most expensive player in the Toffees’ history following his £28m move to the club from Chelsea in 2014, and has built a stellar reputation for himself on Merseyside.

Everton have long been known as a ‘selling club’, with financial realities having forced their hand on a number of occasions, but with new investment from Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri they are plotting big offers to convince the likes of John Stones and Ross Barkley to stay put.

But, reports claim that figures at the club aren’t entirely confident that they will be able to persuade Lukaku to reject interest, and that he may force a move this summer.

Manchester United are one of many clubs to have been aligned with the 22-year-old.
