3. Bernard

Bernard was a bit of an unknown quantity when he arrived, as no one really knew where Silva was planning to use the Brazilian. The 26-year-old had to wait for his chance, but he has shown his raw ability in the last few weeks. After assisting a goal just moments after coming on in the win over Fulham, he supplied the opener at Leicester with some delightful wing play. Signing the 14-cap Brazilian for free is already starting to look like an absolute master stroke from Brands.

2. Lucas Digne

Digne is perhaps not the most glamorous signing of the summer, but the arrival of the Frenchman showed the complete transformation within the club. For years the Toffees’ experienced back line has been getting worse with age, and a replacement for Leighton Baines was a long time coming. Digne had perhaps his best performance in the recent win over Leicester, and the 25-year-old has been rewarded with a return to the France squad.

1. Richarlison

Come on, you’re not really surprised are you? The big-money move for Richarlison drew a lot of criticism due to his awful form in the second half of last season, but Everton fans were quietly optimistic that Silva could get him firing again. That’s exactly what he’s done, as the 21-year-old has scored four times in six Premier League games. He has also been handed a spot in his national team, perhaps even more impressive given the array of attacking talents at Brazil’s disposal.
