Southampton striker Danny Ings made it 13 goals in 21 Premier League appearances this season after scoring the decisive one in the 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day, and his fine form clearly hasn't gone unnoticed by Everton fans.

The former Liverpool attacker has hit a real purple match when it comes to finding the net, with nine of those 13 coming in his previous 10 top-flight outings.

Following a number of injury-hit campaigns, the 27-year-old now looks to be in great physical shape and his hard work is paying dividends on the pitch, all while helping to keep Saints away from the relegation zone as things stand.

Meanwhile, Everton suffered their first defeat of the Carlo Ancelotti era as they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday, and it will be interesting to see whether the Italian dips into the transfer market or not this month.

Given they have Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Moise Kean, Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse in their ranks, it would perhaps be a surprise if they made a move for a striker.

That hasn't stopped some Toffees supporters suggesting Ings though, with one even saying they should splash out £50m on him and another saying 'he'd score more than DCL', who has 10 in all competitions this term.

Other fans seemed in disbelief at the form Ings is showing, and the 27-year-old must surely be pushing closer to an England call-up.

It would certainly be interesting to see him alongside Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park, with Ancelotti so far preferring a system with two strikers.
