Ignazio Genuardi has claimed on Twitter that Everton have scouted Bordeaux striker Josh Maja, and Toffees fans on Twitter have been reacting to the link with the former Sunderland man.
#Everton a notamment supervisé #Maja (#Bordeaux) lors de la défaite du 15 décembre dernier contre Strasbourg. D’autres pensionnaires de Premier League surveillent aussi l’ancien joueur de Sunderland. #Mercato #FCGB

The 21-year-old left the Stadium of Light for Ligue 1 football during the 2019 January transfer window, and has impressed for the French top flight club this term.
According to Transfermarkt, Maja has scored five goals and provided a further two assists in 16 league appearances – across 587 minutes – which is a pretty impressive return.
He showed his goalscoring prowess with the Black Cats too, scoring 17 goals in 49 games for the Wearside club before his exit.
Everton may have the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison impressing up front right now – they have 18 goals between them this term – but Moise Kean, Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse have just one between them in 2019/20.

Plenty of Toffees supporters have been reacting to the link with Maja, with some comparing him to the aforementioned Turkey international…

@elpivoteftbl how about this fella? Possible squad replacement for Tosun and/or Niasse?

We had an eye on him when he was at sunderland too

He’s decent yeh, 5 goals and 2 assists in 5 starts and 600 minutes at 21. Be a nice back-up, definitely offers more than Tosun

Today’s speculation sees #efc linked with Josh Maja, Adrien Rabiot and Jean Michaël Seri.
Rabiot the biggest name there, but would take some convincing from him and Juventus. Seri would add steel, but didn’t always impress for Fulham.
Maja very talented, has been linked before.

While some fans were keen, not everyone was with one fan feeling it would be too sign to sign a player who isn’t even a regular starter at Bordeaux, and another suggesting he is no better than what they already have.
Did he play for Everton? Simple question but a lot tougher than you think…
Another suggested they could do with a more experienced striker rather than another youngster, given they already have Calvert-Lewin, Kean and Richarlison in their ranks – probably a fair point.
Yeah they way he left sunderland agrieved many of the fans. I agree to buy younger but don’t think its worth it swooping for him after limited game time. Maybe in the summer but too much of a risk to sign in Jan. Also feel like more will go before we sign e.g. tosun and niasse.

Naa, no better than what we’ve got and won’t end up better either…

Not for me, we have DCL, kean and sims. We need an experienced striker.
