Ignazio Genuardi has claimed on Twitter that Everton have scouted Bordeaux striker Josh Maja, and Toffees fans on Twitter have been reacting to the link with the former Sunderland man.

The 21-year-old left the Stadium of Light for Ligue 1 football during the 2019 January transfer window, and has impressed for the French top flight club this term.

According to Transfermarkt, Maja has scored five goals and provided a further two assists in 16 league appearances – across 587 minutes – which is a pretty impressive return.

He showed his goalscoring prowess with the Black Cats too, scoring 17 goals in 49 games for the Wearside club before his exit.

Everton may have the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison impressing up front right now – they have 18 goals between them this term – but Moise Kean, Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse have just one between them in 2019/20.

Did he play for Everton? Simple question but a lot tougher than you think...

Another suggested they could do with a more experienced striker rather than another youngster, given they already have Calvert-Lewin, Kean and Richarlison in their ranks - probably a fair point.
