It was reported by BBC Sport on Monday that Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani had asked to leave the club following an approach by La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid, which led to Everton fans discussing whether they'd take the 32-year-old at Goodison Park on Twitter.

The latest reports suggest that the Uruguay international is looking to leave the Parc des Princes this month if the deal is right, with Atletico seemingly frontrunners for his signature.

However, L'Equipe via Get French Football News, have said that the centre-forward is also open to a move to the Premier League during the January transfer window.

It remains unclear whether the Toffees would be interested in signing a striker before the deadline despite the departure of Cenk Tosun on loan to Crystal Palace, with manager Carlo Ancelotti still having Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Moise Kean and Oumar Niasse to select from as things stand.

Nevertheless, when Everton supporters were asked by The Gwladys Street Twitter account whether they'd entertain a move for Cavani, who has scored 198 goals in 293 games for PSG, the replies made their feelings clear.

However, not everyone simply said they would want to sign the 32-year-old.

Did he play for Everton? Simple question but a lot tougher than you think...

One supporter pointed out that there was no point signing a proven poacher like Cavani if the club doesn't have the quality to supply them from the wings, and they've got a point.

Indeed, Theo Walcott and Bernard for example only have three assists altogether in 32 Premier League appearances between them this term.

Meanwhile, other supporters were also keen on Cavani, with one suggesting that 22-year-old Calvert-Lewin could learn a lot from him.

However, they also acknowledged that while they'd love to have him at Goodison Park, they doubted their club's ability to actually get him.

That is fair enough in the circumstances given Atletico and Chelsea have been linked with moves for him.
