Everton manager Marco Silva made a handful of new signings in the summer transfer market, but one of the original team members stood out for supporters during Saturday's win over Southampton.

Idrissa Gana Gueye was chosen to sit in the centre of the park alongside Morgan Schneiderlin, who was substituted after just 24 minutes with an injury.

Gana has been a favourite among the Everton faithful for some time, and he strengthened that backing at the weekend.

Danny Ings managed to pull one back for the Saints in the second half, but it was not enough to inspire a comeback, and Everton took home three points.

On Twitter, some fans could not stop raving about Gana's performance.
