When a player comes through a club’s academy, fans are desperate for them to make a name for themselves, and the same could be said for Everton left-back Luke Garbutt.
The 25-year-old joined the Toffees’ academy from Leeds United in 2009, but after making his breakthrough two years later, he struggled to earn a regular spot in the team.
In fact, Garbutt had four loan spells between 2011 and 2017, and now he will be spending the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Oxford United.

Last season, the left-back made 10 appearances for Everton’s development side in Premier League 2, scoring three goals and creating one assist.
Now that Garbutt is on loan for the fifth time since graduating from the Toffees’ academy, questions need to be asked about whether he has a long-term future at Goodison Park.

The Harrogate-born player is not exactly a youngster anymore, so perhaps he should consider moving on for good.
Judging by the reaction on Reddit, some Everton fans are sad about his lack of progress at the club, while others are ready to say goodbye.
