Everton fans are terrified at the prospect of facing Liverpool without Idrissa Gueye, after his national team boss claimed he has a muscle tear.

There aren’t many players at Goodison Park that currently have the full support of the fans. Wayne Rooney has been somewhat of a disappointment despite his winter spurt of form, last summer’s big money signings haven’t had the desired impact, and even young stars like Tom Davies have faced plenty of flak from fans.

Idrissa Gueye is probably the one Everton player that never lets his form drop, and more injury news from the international break could be a massive blow for the Blues.

Gueye played the full 90 minutes against Stoke City last weekend, but Senegal boss Aliou Cisse claims the midfielder arrived on international duty with a muscle tear.

"My squad is almost complete, but Gana had a muscle tear when he came over," he reportedly said. "I had wanted him to be in my team, but I think he will be out for three weeks.”

If Gueye is indeed out for three weeks, that would mean he misses the home clash with Manchester City and could be in doubt of missing the derby against Liverpool the following weekend.

The 28 year-old has averaged an incredible 3.7 tackles per game in the Premier League this season, and will be a huge miss for the Blues if he is out for those games.
