Everton will look to bounce back from their 5-1 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend when they host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The Toffees looked to be on the up under Sam Allardyce after an impressive run of form in November and over the festive period, but ever since a 2-1 loss against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on December 30 they have been struggling.

They have been beaten by Manchester United, Liverpool in the FA Cup, Tottenham Hotspur and the Gunners since then – with the latter two 4-0 and 5-1 losses on the road – although they have taken four points from the last six available at Goodison Park against West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City.

While the Merseyside outfit currently lie seven points above the relegation zone, manager Sam Allardyce will be well aware that they can't afford to be too complacent, and they will want to pick up the points that will guarantee their survival as soon as possible.

The former England boss probably wants to make wholesale changes following the heavy reverse against Arsene Wenger's men, and he will likely change the formation having initially lined up with 3-4-2-1 system in north London.

Here is how Everton must line up against Crystal Palace on Saturday, ahead of Jordan Pickford in goal…

Defence

Allardyce went with a three-man defence of Michael Keane, Ashley Williams and new boy Eliaquim Mangala from the start against Arsenal, and it's fair to say that all three of them had a shocker given that the visitors found themselves 4-0 down after 37 minutes.

The trio struggled to deal with the movement and quality from the Gunners attackers, and while Keane was hauled off at half-time as the manager changed formation, Mangala remained on the pitch for the full 90 on a debut to forget.

Allardyce is likely to revert back to a back four against the Eagles on Saturday, and it would be no surprise to see the likes of Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka and Mason Holgate come back into the XI, with Cuco Martina continuing at left-back in the absence of the injured Leighton Baines.

Midfield

Gueye and Schneiderlin were two of Everton's best players in the second-half of the 2016/17 season, but neither has been at the same level as they were then this season, with the latter particularly poor.

The Frenchman was a spectator for much of the match at the Emirates and offered little despite the fact that he is the player that should be protecting his defence, and given Tom Davies did well off of the substitutes' bench at the Emirates, maybe it has come to the point where Schneiderlin will be dropped from the XI.

Ahead of them, it would certainly be no surprise to see Theo Walcott and Yannick Bolasie keep their places on the wings, but Gylfi Sigurdsson or Wayne Rooney will surely be recalled into the No 10 role given that the Toffees need to be more attacking as they are at home.

Attack

£27m January addition Cenk Tosun has started the last two matches from the substitutes' bench having been named in the XI against Tottenham and West Brom, and it seems as though the Turkey international is still adapting to life in the Premier League.

Oumar Niasse had little to work with as the lone striker against Arsenal last weekend and Allardyce has a big decision to make against the Eagles.

With their central defenders known to be strong in the air he may choose to select either Tosun or Dominic Calvert-Lewin to try and compete in that respect, or he could pick Niasse to try and get the better of them on the ground.
