22-year-old Mason Holgate began the season clearly in new Everton manager Marco Silva’s plans. The young defender started four (and came on from the bench in one) of the Toffees’ first five league games of the season.

After West Ham United battered Everton by a 3-1 scoreline at Goodison Park though, Holgate dropped out of the starting XI.

The England under-21 international was an unused substitute for the next three games, but has not even been included in a matchday squad since 6th October. The likes of Kurt Zouma, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have recently excelled in the heart of the Everton defence, whilst Holgate has been out in the cold.

Silva has clearly lost faith in Holgate at this time, but at this stage of the centre-back’s career it is vital that he is playing regular football.

If he cannot get the game time he needs at Goodison, then Holgate must seek opportunities elsewhere sooner rather than later.

Silva's summer moves to sign Zouma and Mina have worked brilliantly, but they may just have ended Holgate's Everton career.

What do you think, Toffees fans, does the youngster have a future at the club under Silva?
