Matthew Pennington has been on Everton's books for his entire career so far having joined the club's academy in 2005.

The 24-year-old defender made his full first-team debut in 2015, but he has failed to cement a regular spot.

Since graduating from the academy, Pennington has had loan spells at Tranmere Rovers, Coventry City, Walsall, Leeds United and now Ipswich Town.

The centre-back joined the Tractor Boys in the summer on a season-long loan and has gone on to make 10 Championship outings and has even scored a goal in the process.

At the weekend, Ipswich fans were particularly impressed with Pennington as he made a crucial challenge to prevent Preston North End from scoring another goal in what turned out to be a 1-1 draw.

The defender would struggle to get into Marco Silva's current Everton team due to the fact that he already has Michael Keane, Kurt Zouma, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Phil Jagielka to choose from.

However, is there a place for Pennington at Goodison Park in the future, or is it time for the defender to move on permanently?
