According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton plan to test Barcelona’s resolve over a permanent deal for Andre Gomes in the summer, despite the midfielder having a €100 million release clause in his contract with the La Liga giants.
Gomes joined the Toffees on loan in the summer, and has so far impressed on Merseyside. However, no option to buy was apparently agreed in the terms of the loan move. If Everton are to retain the 25-year-old on a permanent basis, then they must negotiate a fee with Barcelona.

The 29-cap Portugal international has a Transfermarkt valuation of £13.5 million, though the more he impresses in the Premier League the bigger his price tag will get. Barcelona are also likely to want to at least turn a profit on their own initial €35 million investment.
Whilst Gomes has impressed in Marco Silva’s side so far this season, the Toffees must be very clear on how high they’re willing to go in order to keep the midfielder at Goodison Park for the long haul.
In the current market, given his relative youth, technical quality and elite level experience, Gomes could be worth up to around £30 million. Paying more than that would likely be a mistake though.
What do you think, Everton fans, how much is Gomes worth?
