HYS: Should Richarlison replace Lookman at Everton?

Everton have been named as one of the front-runners to sign Watford’s Richarlison, but is he better than Ademola Lookman?

According to Paddy Power, Everton are the third favourites to land Richarlison this summer, behind only Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with the Brazilian winger for several weeks, and one would have to think any move for the Watford man would be at the heavily linked Marco Silva’s demand.

It certainly seems like the Toffees are on the hunt for a new left winger, with Xherdan Shaqiri, Hirving Lozano and of course Richarlison all linked with replacing the underwhelming Yannick Bolasie.

While Richarlison had an electric start to life in the Premier League, the tricky Brazilian struggled massively in the second half of the season.

The Toffees will welcome Ademola Lookman back from his loan spell this summer, and the young Englishman deserves his chance at Goodison.

Lookman was sent to Red Bull Leipzig in January, and after struggling for playing time at first has grabbed a remarkable four goals and three assists in his last five matches.

The 20 year-old is fast, direct, and will be absolutely desperate to prove himself at the Premier League level, but a move for Richarlison would almost certainly push him out the door.

Everton have plenty of areas that need improvement, and they should save the inflated fee Richarlison would cost and give Lookman his chance instead.
