HYS: Who should be the new Everton manager?

It has been nearly a week since Everton sacked Sam Allardyce, but they still appear to be no closer to appointing a new manager with a number of potential candidates already being ruled out in the previous seven days.

That includes Manuel Pellegrini after he joined West Ham United, Paulo Fonseca who has signed a new contract to stay with Shakhtar Donetsk, and Unai Emery who is set to get the Arsenal job.

Former Watford boss Marco Silva appears to be the preferred candidate for owner Farhad Moshiri, but it is reported that a dispute with the Hornets could mean that bringing the Portuguese manager to Goodison Park could take longer than expected given he is a free agent.

One name that might have moved up the list is former Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta however, who looked set to get the Arsenal job before the north London outfit decided to make a late change of heart.

The 5ft 9in Spaniard would be an exciting appointment given he has worked with Pep Guardiola for two seasons at Manchester City, and has vastly improved players such as Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on the training pitch.

So, Everton fans, who would you like to see the club appoint as Allardyce’s successor at Goodison Park? Let us know by voting below…
