Everton have placed Bayern Munich left-back Juan Bernat on their list of targets this month, according to the Liverpool Echo.

What's the word?

The 24-year-old has struggled for game time at the Allianz Arena this season.

In fact, the Spaniard, who joined the Bavarians from Valencia for £8m in 2014, has made just two appearances in the Bundesliga.

With David Alaba first choice at the German club, Bernat has been finding it difficult to break into the first team.

The Liverpool Echo claims that Everton may be able to offer the left-back a new lease of life at Goodison Park as the Merseyside club are weighing up a move before the end of the month.

Is Bernat a good fit?

Everton are crying out for a new left-back and Bernat could certainly fit the bill.

Leighton Baines is the club's current first choice, but at the age of 33, the former England international is in the latter stages of his career.

During his injury absence, Cuco Martina has taken the role, but the Dutchman has failed to impress, mainly because he is right-footed.

Bernat may not have the same crossing ability as Baines, but he has power and control.

On top of that, the left-back's defensive attributes are solid, and given that he has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern, he may be open to a Premier League switch.
