Everton are keeping tabs on Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi ahead of a potential January move, according to the Daily Mail.

What's the story?

The 28-year-old has been open about his desire to leave the Spanish club after falling out with head coach Eduardo Berizzo.

Since getting substituted in a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in the Champions League, the midfielder has failed to win back his spot.

The Daily Mail claims that Everton manager Sam Allardyce is keeping track of the situation, while the player's representatives are contacting Premier League and Italian clubs about a January deal.

It is believed that N'Zonzi has a buyout clause worth £35.2m, but the Toffees would push for a £25m fee.

Where would N'Zonzi fit in at Everton?

With Allardyce having only recently taken charge, he may use the January window to shape a team that best fits his style.

N'Zonzi was never regarded in high esteem in England's top flight during his time at Stoke City.

However, since moving to Sevilla in 2015, the midfielder has shone and has proven that he can play a pivotal role.

Morgan Schneiderlin has failed to win over every Everton supporter since joining the Toffees from Manchester United in January.

With that being said, N'Zonzi could take his position or work alongside the midfielder, with either Gylfi Sigurdsson or Wayne Rooney playing in front.
