With Carlo Ancelotti arriving at Everton, there are bound to be some changes happening over at Goodison Park.

Of course, with the January transfer window already underway, it wouldn't be a surprise for the iconic manager to dip his toes into the market and seek some much-needed reinforcements to kick-start his latest stint in England.

And interestingly enough, a recent report coming from The Mirror claims the Toffees are looking at the possibility of taking Real Madrid's James Rodriguez on loan this month - a move endorsed by the Italian boss.

The Colombian playmaker would seemingly make a fine addition to Ancelotti's squad but what exactly is so special about him?

To answer that question, we sought the opinions of those who know him best...

Jupp Heynckes, former Bayern Munich coach

Rodriguez spent some time playing for Bayern Munich on loan and during that spell he had the privilege of working under Heynckes, the legendary German gaffer.

And it seems that his coach was really impressed with the playmaker's displays for Die Roten.

Here's what he said about Rodriguez, as quoted by Bundesliga.com:

"In his current form and how he has integrated himself, James is a God-send for Bayern Munich.

"At Real Madrid he wasn’t getting the game time that a player of his calibre deserves. You get the feeling that he is happy in Munich, because it’s not easy when someone comes into a new country, culture, language and way of life.

“He is playing well, but he can play better. I have told him personally how I think he can improve."

Oscar Tabarez, Uruguay manager

The 2014 World Cup saw Rodriguez play some of the best football of his career as he finished the tournament with six goals and two assists in the five games his country played at the tournament.

On the way, Colombia defeated Uruguay and Rodriguez tallied both of the winning goals, securing the 2-0 triumph.

Needless to say, Uruguay's gaffer, Tabarez, was really impressed with his talisman and he duly showered him with praise.

Here's what he said, as quoted by BBC:

"From what I have seen, he is the best player in the World Cup. I am not exaggerating, he is a great striker.

"For me, talents are those who do things that have nothing to do with their life experience.

"Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and James Rodriguez - they do things because they have a certain gift which makes them special."

Carlos Valderrama, Colombia icon

Valderrama is one of the most popular Colombian players and a true icon of the South American nation.

Needless to say, it's a huge deal for a Colombian player to get praise from him, and Rodriguez was lucky enough to catch the eye of the legendary player.

Here's what Valderrama said about the now 28-year-old ace for Deportescl.terra (via The National):

"He’s often consistent, incredibly talented, and he’s got more passion than any other player I’ve seen in all my years of playing and coaching professional football.

"James has the potential to be the greatest Colombian player to have ever lived, and perhaps as one of the greatest to have ever played the game."

Verdict

It seems that Rodriguez is viewed as a top player in modern football.

For that reason, landing his signature would be a major scoop for Everton.
