Journalist: Everton star has “made his mind up” on £50m Man City transfer

BBC Sport journalist Richard Askam claims Everton defender John Stones has made his mind up about joining Manchester City during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old is rated as one of the most talented home-grown youngsters in the Premier League, offering unique technical flair for an English centre-half.

Manchester City are expected to overhaul their central defensive options this summer – in fact, veteran centre-back Martin Demichelis has already left the club following the expiration of his contract last Friday.

Accordingly, the Citizens have been linked with the England international, whose Goodison contract expires in 2019, frequently in recent weeks – with the Toffees reportedly rating their in-demand youngster at a whopping £50million.

And BBC Sport journalist Richard Askam believes Stones has already made his mind up regarding a transfer to the Etihad, suggesting the former Barnsley youngster will be pushing for a summer switch at his end too.

Askam wrote on Twitter earlier today: “John Stones to Manchester City increasingly likely. Still way to go but player has certainly made his mind up .”
