Everton youngster Jonjoe Kenny has branded Theo Walcott 'a top player and a great addition' to the Toffees squad.

Walcott joined Everton from Arsenal last week, and the Englishman made his debut for the Merseyside club in Saturday's Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion.

It was the 28-year-old's header that set up Oumar Niasse for Everton's equaliser as Sam Allardyce's team came from behind to share the points with the Baggies.

Everton are believed to have held off interest from Southampton to sign Walcott, who scored over 100 times for Arsenal before leaving the Gunners for a move up north.

Kenny, who has broken into the Toffees first team this season, was full of praise for Walcott when questioned on what the attacker will bring to the club following his move.

Kenny told evertontv:

“Theo is another top-class player. It will take time for me to get to know his game – and for him to get to know mine.

“That will happen game by game, but he is a top player and a great addition to our squad."

Walcott, who is valued at £18m by transfermarkt.co.uk, scored three times and registered five assists in five Europa League appearances for Arsenal earlier this season.

The Englishman was hardly used in the Premier League, however, and will now be looking to rebuild his career on Merseyside.
