Lukaku struggling on the road

Everton boast one of the finest strikers in the Premier League with Romelu Lukaku on their books but the Belgian striker isn’t quite at his brilliant best currently.

The former Chelsea man has struggled to find the net away from home recently and his woes continued on his trip to the South Coast yesterday, as Ronald Koeman’s Everton fell to a defeat against his former employers Southampton.

Lukaku has netted in just two away games this season, although to be fair one was against Manchester City in a game where Everton earned a solid point whilst the other saw him net a hat-trick against a solid Sunderland side.

The only other sides Lukaku has scored against away from home in the aforementioned run is Stoke City and relegated Aston Villa last season, which raises questions as to whether the Belgian can be relied upon fully.

Defeat yesterday cost Everton the chance to leapfrog Manchester United and the Toffees will need Lukaku to be sharp in the month ahead, as they travel to face Watford, Leicester City and Hull- all opponents that the Belgian will fancy his chances of finding the net against.
