Chelsea’s hopes of signing long-term target John Stones have been rocked, with The Times claiming that the player himself would rather stay in the North West than move to London, putting Manchester City and Manchester United in pole position.
The England international has emerged as one of the top young players in the Premier League over the course of the past 18 months, with his technically proficient style having won him much praise.
Chelsea openly attempted to snap up the 21-year-old over the summer, but saw numerous bids knocked back by Everton.
But with the Toffees on course for a midtable finish their stance may have to alter in a few months’ time, however, the Stamford Bridge side may not benefit, with reports claiming that Stones sees Manchester as a better option than London.
Stones’ confident approach has led to a few errors in recent weeks, but he’s still considered to be one of the top talents in English football.
