Mata alternative? Everton eyeing playmaker star with amazing goal & assist return

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is keen on FC Twente’s sensational attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech, according to reports from De Telegraaf.

The six-cap Morocco international shone in what was a turbulent season at De Grolsch Veste last term, scoring 17 goals while weighing in with another 10 assists, leaving him near the top of the Eredivisie rankings on both counts.

Naturally, his performances have attracted attention and reports claim that Everton, alongside Frank de Boer’s Inter Milan and Ajax, are interested in the attacking midfielder.

Ziyech, who can play as a ‘No.10’ or on either flank, is known for his pace, agility and creative spark and could be the playmaker addition Koeman is thought to be chasing amid links with Juan Mata of Manchester United.

Interestingly, FC Twente are in financial trouble at the moment – they were almost relegated from the Eredivisie due to misdemeanours, but stayed up on appeal – which could lead to the sale of, arguably, their most valuable asset.
