It has been a tough baptism of fire for the 19-year-old in a Toffees shirt following his summer move from Juventus, and he went 21 matches in all competitions without finding the net before he finally converted a chance in midweek, having made his second successive start alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top.

Alongside an image of him celebrating the strike on Instagram was a message saying "I won't let 'em end my name...", which is presumably a strong message of defiance at anyone who may have been writing him off previously, and that he is still here and firing after his goal drought in a blue shirt came to an end.

The teenager will be keen to build on this milestone in the coming weeks and months and finish the season on a high with the Merseyside outfit, and it will be interesting to see whether this gives the youngster the confidence to go on a bit of a scoring spree under Carlo Ancelotti.
