Not many fans would argue if Oumar Niasse harboured some ill feeling towards Ronald Koeman due to the pair's time together at Everton.

Initially, the striker was not even given a locker when Koeman became Roberto Martinez's successor at the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

Niasse was frozen out, but after a loan spell at Hull City last season, the forward was welcomed back into the fold at Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions so far in the current campaign and has contributed with five goals.

Koeman gave Niasse a chance after his attacking options depleted with the sale of Romelu Lukaku, but the Dutchman's work was cut short just nine Premier League games into the season.

A poor run of results spelled the end for the manager, and now Niasse has reflected on is relationship with the former Southampton boss.

Rather than criticise the treatment that he received, the forward has opted to be gracious.

Sky Sports quotes Niasse as saying:

"I feel sorry for him, what happened to him when the club got rid of him. Honestly, they were ready to let me go. I was ready also to go because I knew that it would be a difficult season if I stayed here but at the end I didn't go.

The fans took to Twitter to praise Niasse's attitude.
