Everton are in desperate need of some extra creativity in the final third, and they should be at the front of the queue if Manchester City decide to send Phil Foden out on loan.

What’s the word?

Foden scored his first senior goal for Manchester City on Tuesday, grabbing City’s third in a 3-0 League Cup win at Oxford United.

The youngster was outstanding throughout the match, using his close control to evade Oxford’s press and also setting up the second goal for Riyad Mahrez.

Everton meanwhile are struggling to find that killer instinct in the final third, and a January loan move for Foden makes sense for all parties.

A win-win?

Foden is getting more of a chance at the Etihad than most 18-year-olds get at “big six” clubs, but he needs to be playing week in, week out. The teenager has been forced to settle for substitute appearances due to the sheer quality in Pep Guardiola’s squad, and that squad is only going to get even stronger.

The youngster could be the perfect man to play just off the striker at Goodison though, using his intelligent movement, close control and wonderful vision to get the Toffees firing.

Marco Silva’s side have had some really good spells in the last couple of matches, but they simply don’t have enough creativity to carve out chances, with Gylfi Sigurdsson the only real playmaker in the squad.

Foden can play off either wing or as the number ten, and his work rate would quickly endear him to the fans on Merseyside.

His unique mixture of technique, swagger and versatility means Silva could fit him anywhere across the attack, and six months of regular football at Goodison could do wonders for both the player and for Manchester City.

So, Everton fans, would you like to see a loan move for Foden? Could he be the answer to your attacking woes? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
