Everton are in desperate need of a top quality goalscorer, and Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson could be just the man to replace the misfiring Cenk Tosun.

What’s the story?

Read Everton have written a piece suggesting striker targets for Marco Silva to pursue, and Bournemouth’s Wilson could be the perfect signing.

Silva has got all the pieces in place to pack his Everton starting eleven full of pace, creativity and goals, but the lack of a truly clinical striker is holding up any potential progress.

Tosun is yet to find the net this season, and the Toffees need someone that is a better fit for Silva’s free-flowing football.

Wilson’s mixture of pace, link-up play and clinical finishing makes him the perfect candidate, and Everton could save their season by signing him in January.

A better fit than Tosun?

Wilson has never really got the benefit of a full Premier League season at Bournemouth, as the Englishman has suffered serious injuries in two of the last three seasons.

He has started this season in red-hot form though, scoring twice and adding two assists in the Cherries’ first five matches. The 26 year-old is a great goalscorer, but it’s his overall game that makes him the perfect fit for Everton.

His work rate, endless runs down the channels, vision and technique allow him to bring others into the game, and he could have the same effect on Richarlison and Theo Walcott that he has had on Josh King and Ryan Fraser.

Wilson is averaging over three shots per game so far this season, while also creating over one chance per game and completing 1.4 dribbles per game. To put those numbers in perspective, Tosun averages 2.2 shots, 0.6 created chances and zero successful dribbles per game.

This is not to say there is no place for Tosun at Goodison, but the Turkish international is simply not warranting a starting place. Having the pacey Wilson and towering Tosun at his disposal would give Silva a whole host of different options, and the Toffees should absolutely make a January play for the Bournemouth star.
