Everton started to revamp their defence this summer under the guidance of new sporting director Marcel Brands, and his next move simply must be for Crystal Palace sensation Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

What's the word?

Seamus Coleman is an Everton legend. Since signing for just £60,000 back in 2009, the Irish international has racked up nearly 300 appearances, scoring 25 times and adding 25 assists along the way.

However, after two serious injuries in the last two years, the 30 year-old has completely lost his pace, and he has been poor defensively at times this season, particularly in the nightmare performance against Tottenham.

Wan-Bissaka meanwhile is absolutely dominating the right flank for Crystal Palace, especially in big games, completely shutting down the electric Leroy Sane in the Eagles’ shock win at the Etihad recently.

The Toffees showed this summer that they are not afraid to splash out big on rival Premier League players, and a switch to Goodison could be the perfect next step in Wan-Bissaka’s career.

The next Coleman?

While he is no slouch on the defensive end, Coleman is best-known for his attacking talents, flying down the right flank and whipping in dangerous low crosses for his front men.

Well, luckily for Everton fans, Wan-Bissaka can do the exact same thing, and has the engine that Coleman simply no longer has.

The England Under-21 international has one assist this season, and averages 1.9 successful dribbles and 0.5 chances created per game.

His best trait is undoubtedly his tackling though, and he racked up a frankly ridiculous seven tackles against Sane in that famous win at the Etihad. The youngster averages 3.9 tackles and 2.6 interceptions per game this season.

All in all, Wan-Bissaka is faster and fitter than Coleman, better defensively than the veteran Toffee, and with a little work can definitely match his attacking output.

So, Everton fans, would you back a move for Wan-Bissaka? Is he the long-term heir for Coleman? Let us know your though by voting in the poll below…
