Everton fans are unhappy with Seamus Coleman’s recent performances, and the Toffees can get the perfect replacement by signing Strasbourg star Kenny Lala.

What's the word?

Everton almost completely overhauled their defence this summer, and Coleman is the only remaining member of the old guard.

The 30 year-old has looked a step off the pace since returning from two lengthy injuries though, and fans feel he may be next in line for an upgrade.

Lala has been in red-hot form for Strasbourg this season, and the 27-year-old will be out of contract next summer.

This means Marcel Brands could work his magic to get him for an absolute bargain in January, a bargain that will be reminiscent of the £60,000 capture of Coleman.

Competition for Coleman

Lala may not immediately displace Coleman in the Everton side, but signing an in-form and hungry right back would certainly make the Irishman up his game.

The two could compete for the shirt as Jonjoe Kenny just simply isn’t good enough, and on current form Lala would probably get the nod.

The Frenchman has shot to prominence in Ligue 1 this season, grabbing two goals and two assists in a relatively poor Strasbourg side.

He will remind fans at Goodison of a younger Coleman due to his constant overlapping runs and superb crossing, averaging 1.6 key passes and 1.3 successful crosses per game.

He is also much more solid defensively than Coleman, averaging a whopping 3.1 tackles per game in the league this season.

At 27 and already in the last year of his contract, Brands could pull off an absolute masterstroke by getting one of Europe’s hottest full-backs for a nominal fee in January.

Lala is an unbelievable crosser of the ball, loves bombing down the right flank into dangerous positions, but he also has the pace and awareness to get back into his defensive position.

So, Everton fans, would you like to see a move for Lala in January? Is it time to replace Coleman? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
