Everton have been linked with a shock move for enigmatic Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, but the 63 year-old would have the exact same problems as Marco Silva.

What's the story?

According to The Mirror, Everton will target Bielsa if they decide to part ways with Silva.

The Leeds boss is of course under investigation by the EFL after sending a “spy” to watch Derby County’s training session, and is still awaiting news of a possible punishment.

While “El Loco” has worked wonders at Elland Road though, transforming an underperforming squad into genuine title challengers, he would struggle at Everton for the exact same reasons that Silva has.

No goals

Well, the major problem at Goodison Park right now is the lack of a proper goalscorer, and the club are yet to show any signs of fixing that issue.

Since selling Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees have splashed out on the likes of Sandro Ramirez and Cenk Tosun, none of which have even come close to filling the big Belgian’s boots.

While Bielsa has developed Kemar Roofe into one of the Championship’s top scorers, it is simply not possible to work wonders with the dearth of goalscorers in the Toffees’ ranks.

No leadership

Another big issue for the Blues is a lack of solidity and leadership, with the side seemingly ready to collapse at a moment’s notice.

With no quality, experienced and commanding centre back in the squad, such as Leeds’ Pontus Jansson, Bielsa’s free-flowing football would leave the defence wide open, just as Silva’s style has.

The one area Bielsa would surely succeed where Silva has failed is motivating the players, as there are few managers in world football who can fire up a team like the Argentine.

Still, Bielsa’s free-flowing football and stubborn insistence on keeping his philosophy would create all the same problems that Silva is experiencing right now. This one is a non-starter.
