Paul Joyce says Tom Davies to sign long-term Everton deal, Toffees fans react

According to reliable The Times journalist Paul Joyce on Twitter, Everton midfielder Tom Davies is set to sign a contract extension until 2023, and Toffees fans have been quick to react.

The 20-year-old’s current deal runs until 2022, but according to Joyce the Merseyside outfit are ready to extend the England U21 international’s stay at Goodison Park for at least another 12 months.

Davies’ Everton career has been full of ups-and-downs and spells in the starting XI and on the substitutes’ bench, but he has struggled for game time in recent weeks.

The midfielder only made brief appearances against Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal before being an unused substitute against Fulham and Manchester United, and was left out of the squad to face Crystal Palace on Saturday altogether.

However, previously back in February he had been handed the captain’s armband by Marco Silva in the Premier League clashes against Manchester City and Watford.

Everton supporters have taken to social media to have their say on the likely contract extension, and while some are clearly pleased with one individual saying “that’s a relief”, another labelled the decision as “dreadful”.
