Controversial Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made a big Everton prediction ahead of this weekend, backing Marco Silva's Everton for a comfortable win at Fulham in the Premier League.

What's he said, then?

The Toffees travel to Craven Cottage in blistering form on the back of three consecutive victories in the league and what triumphs too - home beatings of Chelsea and Arsenal and the away scalp of close table rivals West Ham United.

This run has allowed the Merseysiders to start dreaming of European football again as they're in the running to nick seventh place, in ninth and just one point off Leicester City. Meanwhile, their opponents have been relegated and sit in the doldrums of 19th.

Here's what Merson had to say on the match in his weekly Premier League predictions column for Sky Sports on Thursday, going for Fulham 0-3 Everton:

"Fulham are playing for pride, but they're not good enough. At the end of the day, you've just got to look at them and say they aren't good enough. They let in virtually two goals every game, and I can't see anything but an Everton win.

"Everton are playing very well at the moment, or at least in the last two-and-a-half games. They had the second half against Chelsea, then the West Ham game and then beat Arsenal.

"I fancy them to win again, very comfortably."

The correct verdict, Paul - for once

On this occasion, it's hard to argue with the outspoken former England international, with him appearing to make a good call about this encounter.

You would have to go back to Tuesday 29 January for the last time Fulham avoided defeat and Scott Parker replacing Claudio Ranieri has failed to inspire them.

They're down and sometimes sides that have already been relegated can pose a threat to those with high aspirations during the run-in, but you feel the Cottagers are just too weak to put in that kind of spirited performance.
