Roma striker Edin Dzeko has stated that he hopes to return to the Premier League before the end of his playing career, as reported by Sky Sports.

The 32-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina forward stated that he is currently happy at the Italian capital club, but nevertheless, Premier League outfits will now be on high alert following his comments.

Dzeko last played in England for Manchester City, winning two league titles and an FA Cup in his time at the Etihad Stadium before leaving for Roma in 2015.

Dzeko has been in top form since joining the Serie A side, and last season registered 24 goal in 49 appearances. The veteran could certainly still have an impact in English football.

Amongst the Premier League sides who would be wise to try and tempt Dzeko back to these shores in January is Everton. The Toffees could do with a reliable centre-forward given Cenk Tosun’s difficulties in adapting to the English game, and Dzeko is a proven goalscorer at this level.

Marco Silva would be pulling off a major coup by bringing Dzeko to Goodison Park and it would certainly be an ambitious move to make in the market. If the Merseyside club could pull the signing off, though, then they’d be taking a big step closer to competing for European football qualification.

Many Everton fans appear to agree that Dzeko would be a fine signing. When we asked if they’d like to see the club pursue him in January, 70% voted in favour of the move. See the full results below.
