Everton have found their backbone this season, and 81 per cent of fans want Marco Silva to add to his new spine by signing Inter Milan’s Joao Mario.
Mario looked almost certain to leave Inter Milan this summer, as the Euro 2016 star’s big move to the San Siro just simply did not work out.
The versatile 25-year-old was one of the star’s of Portugal’s miraculous EURO 2016 win, but he has played just 46 Serie A games since signing for Inter after that tournament.
He spent the second-half of last season on loan with West Ham, where many expected him to sign permanently during the summer, but a deal failed to materialise with the east London club reportedly preferring a loan deal as they seemingly couldn’t afford the player’s £26m price tag.
Everton have of course done something similar this summer with Andre Gomes, signing a Champions League quality player who is surplus to requirements at his parent club.
If Gomes were to return to Barcelona at the end of the season though, Mario could be the perfect replacement.
The 5 ft 8 in ace has already proven he has the athleticism and physicality to make it in the Premier League, and he could bring the perfect balance to Everton’s midfield alongside Idrissa Gueye.
