Marco Silva’s men were taking on a side that had not picked up a single point in four Premier League matches.

The Toffees were favourites due to the Hammers’ poor run and also because they had home comforts at Goodison Park.

However, they were undone by two goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and another from Marko Arnautovic.

Gylfi Sigurdsson got on the scoresheet for Everton, but it ended up to be meaningless as they gave away maximum points at home.

Silva recruited plenty of players in the summer transfer window, but despite having millions in the bank courtesy of shareholder Farhad Moshiri, the club did not splash out on a new striker.
