Revealed: Majority of Everton fans want Sam Allardyce to build around Gylfi Sigurdsson

Finding a way to fit Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson into the same team has been a constant headache at Everton this season, but one that appears to have solved itself for the majority of the remainder of the campaign with the Iceland international set for a spell on the sidelines through injury.

In his absence last Saturday, Rooney impressed against Stoke City, pulling the strings at the tip of midfield in a vital away win for Sam Allardyce – who has come under pressure from the Goodison faithful in recent months.

With that performance in mind, we recently asked Everton fans which attacking midfielder Allardyce should look to build the team around, the former England captain or the summer signing – who Transfermarkt value at £27million.

And according to our poll, 66% of Toffees supporters believe Sigurdsson should be at the heart of the starting XI. So, Everton fans, does Rooney need to settle for a role from the bench, or can you see another position for him in the team? Let us know by commenting below…
