Everton star Richarlison has claimed in an interview with Spanish publication AS that it would be any player's "dream" to sign for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

What's the word?

Many football fans were surprised when the Merseyside outfit splashed £40m on the winger in the summer window.

His move from Watford raised some eyebrows due to the price tag, but so far he has impressed.

In three outings for the Toffees this season, Richarlison has scored three times, but he let himself down when getting sent off against Bournemouth.

The attack-minded star continued his fine form on the international stage as he scored twice during his full debut for Brazil.

While with his country's national team, Richarlison spoke highly of Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid during an interview with AS, but he insisted that he is committed to Everton.

"That way you leave me in a complicated situation. They are two giants, the dream of any player. But I just got to Everton, I'm very happy. And in the end the next step will depend a lot on what you do here.

"So I hope to do a lot of good things in Everton, to win something relevant and to give back the confidence of the club and the fans. This is my great motivation right now."

How should Everton fans take this?

At the moment there is certainly nothing to worry about from the supporters' perspective.

Mentioning that joining one of the biggest clubs in world football is a "dream" is not exactly the most groundbreaking news.

All players have an ambition to reach the top of their game, and for some - particularly foreign stars - Barcelona and Real Madrid are the pinnacle.

If Richarlison has a stunning season, then Everton may find themselves in a predicament next summer.

The winger's form could attract the big boys, which may present an opportunity for the player that would be difficult to turn down.
