Having started life on Merseyside brilliantly following a £35m move to Everton from Watford – in a deal that could rise to £50m – Richarlison’s form has dipped massively amidst a poor run of form from the Toffees.
The Brazilian international left Vicarage Road on amicable terms back in the summer, mainly because the Hornets were probably shocked to receive such a huge sum for the forward. Nevertheless, he seemed to get caught up in the fiery atmosphere caused by Marco Silva’s less amicable departure, and seemed overawed in the 1-0 loss.
The former Fluminense star was extremely ineffective against Javi Gracia’s men, causing the Hornets’ backline few problems as they kept their fourth clean sheet from their previous five games across all competitions.

Richarlison strangely started on the right wing, despite playing upfront or on the left, where he can cut in onto his preferred right foot, for much of the season to date. Therefore, it was little surprise to see him have such little impact on the game, and he was subsequently marked out of the affair by Jose Holebas.
The 21-year-old had a grand total of zero shots, and didn’t even manage to make a single key pass as his influence was completely nullified in front of a raucous Vicarage Road faithful.
There was little to shout from the rooftops about regarding Richarlison’s return to this part of the world, as he also found himself dispossessed four times, whilst having three unsuccessful touches to compound a truly miserable day for himself and the Toffees.
The Brazilian does still have 10 goals to show for his 23 league starts so far this season, which really isn’t bad for a young player who arrived at the club with so much pressure immediately placed upon his young shoulders.
However, given his obvious talent and the fact that he is arguably Everton and Silva’s prized asset, he must start stepping up when the tide is against him to prove his worth to his teammates.
