Everton fans hammer Gylfi Sigurdsson

Everton fans have taken to Twitter to hammer Gylfi Sigurdsson’s performance in the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The 74-cap Iceland international was making his 21st Premier League start of the campaign, but proceeded to deliver an ineffective display that even had Gary Neville criticising him during his commentary of the game.

Sigurdsson had no shots on target and completed zero dribbles, while also committing four fouls.

The former Tottenham man also failed to register a clearance or a block, while also having one unsuccessful touch.

Somehow, he remained on the pitch throughout the entire 90 minutes.

Following the full-time whistle, the attacking midfielder still has just one Premier League goal to his name this season, as well as a mere two assists.

That isn’t ideal for any first-team player who tends to operate in that No.10 role, but it is an especially unacceptable return from a player who cost Everton a huge £45m from Swansea – given his talent and price tag, he has to be doing more.

Given his price tag, is Gylfi Sigurdsson the worst Everton signing in recent history?

Let’s see what the Toffees supporters on Twitter have been saying about the former Reading man…

To kick off the reaction, Ped said that the Iceland international was awful against Arsenal, and also mentioned that it looks like his legs have gone.

Martin Walsh then replied to that comment, saying that Ped surely should’ve mentioned how Sigurdsson has been awful on more occasions than just Sunday – Martin then added that the player has a disgraceful attitude.

Elsewhere, Dean said that the 30-year-old is finished at Goodison Park, before calling him the invisible man.

Neil Hyatt then claimed that Sigurdsson should be released on a free.

Lastly, Joe Leary branded the Everton No.10 as genuinely shocking.
