According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira on Twitter, Everton are in talks to sign Gremio winger Everton Soares and Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino.

Schira says discussions are ongoing for the duo as the Merseyside outfit look to close the deals – Alfredo Pedulla also reported on Friday night that the club is stepping up their interest in the Inter man.
Sky Sports reported earlier this month that the Toffees were interested in signing the Brazil international, while Vecino has also been linked with a move to Goodison Park – Manchester United saw a loan offer rejected for the 28-year-old this week, again as per Sky Sports.
It has been a quiet window for Everton so far with Jarrad Branthwaite the only arrival to date, and he will link up with the U23 squad rather than the first team.
However if Schira is correct with his claim, it seems as though things could hot up in the final week for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
Soares would certainly add some more depth and quality out wide having scored 15 goals and provided a further seven assists for his club in 2019.
Meanwhile, Uruguay international Vecino would bring some competition in the central midfield position that has ultimately hampered Everton in recent months because of the absence of the injured Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
The likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Morgan Schneiderlin simply haven’t been good enough in there, with a fine example of their poor work shown by their 2/10 and 3/10 ratings respectively handed out to them by The Liverpool Echo in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.
